This panel features two medical society journals, the Journal of the Saudi Heart Association, and the Archives of Neurosurgery, sharing insights on best practices in launching a new journal, managing publication ethics, and building journal performance.

Speaker Details

Marko Turina

Marko Turina is a Professor of Surgery at the University Hospital in Zurich and the Content Editor of the Journal of Saudi Heart Association. He is a cardiac surgeon who graduated from the University of Zagreb Medical School and trained in surgery, cardiology, and biochemistry. Marko Turina was also a research surgeon at the University of California, San Diego. At the University Hospital in Zurich, he has served as a surgeon, Professor and Director of the Clinic for Cardiovascular Surgery, Dean of the medical faculty, and the Chairman of the Department of Surgery.

Israel Romero

Dr. JA Israel Romero is from Mexico and is a graduate in medicine, master in medical sciences, neurosurgery, and minimally invasive spine surgery at The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is the attending physician at the Neurological Center of The American-British Cowdray Medical Center IAP Campus Santa Fe (ABCMC), and the Regional General Hospital #25 of The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS). He is the Adjunct Professor of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Collaborate Professor of the High-Specialty in Spine Surgery UNAM-ABCMC and a member of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS), Mexican Society of Neurological Surgery (SMCN), Mexican Association of Spine Surgeons (AMCICO), and Medical Association of the ABCMC. Dr. Romero is also the Founder and Managing Editor of Archives of Neurosurgery, SMCN Official Journal empowered by Elsevier/Digital Commons and a

Peer-Reviewer of nine international journals including Neurosurgery, Neurosurgery-Open, World Neurosurgery, Operative Neurosurgery, Spine, Cirugía-y-Cirujanos, World Journal of Surgical Oncology, Medical Sciences Monitor, Case reports in Orthopedic Surgery. He is also the author of thirteen indexed-papers, and five chapters in medical books.
