Description

The research landscape in Asia is undergoing a period of exciting transformation and growth. This panel share insights into this changing landscape by bring together two different perspectives: that of an editor of a high-performing medical journal and that of a university journals publisher. Topics considered include: What forces are driving the growth or research in the region? What considerations do editors and publisher need to think about? How does the Diamond Open Access model enable each publishing program to achieve their goals?

Gow-Chin Yen

Dr. Gow-Chin Yen is presently a Chair Professor of the Department of Food Science and Biotechnology at the National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan. Dr. Yen is an internationally renowned expert in molecular food chemistry, food safety, and functional foods. His current research interests focus on beneficial effects and molecular mechanisms of food bioactives in health promotion and disease prevention targeted at oxidative stress, cancer, inflammatory diseases. Currently, his h-index is 71. He has received several awards and professional recognitions including a Fellow of the IAFoST, IFT, RSC, ISNFF, and the Division of Agricultural and Food Chemistry of the ACS. He is editor-in-chief of Journal of Food and Drug Analysis, associate editor of Journal of Food Science, and member of editorial boards of Molecular Nutrition and Food Research, Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Food and Function, and Journal of Functional Foods, etc.

Laras Sekarasih

Laras Sekarasih is the deputy director of research and innovation product management at Universitas Indonesia. Her responsibility includes monitoring and facilitating the growth of academic journals published by Universitas Indonesia. She is also a faculty member at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Indonesia, where she teaches Media Psychology, Social Psychology, Consumer Psychology, and Quantitative Research Methods. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her work as a researcher has been published as journal articles and book chapters, including at the Journal of Children and Media, The Communication Review, and the Journal of Media Literacy Education.
